Fly Fishing on the Legendary Bighorn River
The Bighorn River is a world-renowned tailwater located in Southeast Montana. This blue-ribbon fishery boasts 3000-5000 fish per mile. These cold, clear nutrient-rich flows being released from the bottom of the dam produce a thriving feast of insects and crustaceans that allow Rainbow and Brown trout to grow 14-20” in length. This unique trout habitat provides anglers with an exceptional mix of dry fly, nymph and streamer fishing year-round.
Guided Fly Fishing Trips on the Bighorn
The Bighorn River boasts some of the best trout fishing in the world, where fishermen can expect to catch as many as 30 fish during a single float. The main two species that are targeted are Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout, both of which are a lot of fun to catch on a fly.
On our guided fly fishing trips, one of our experienced local guides will take you for an all-day float down the Bighorn River, from 8am to 5pm, helping you to catch as many big fish as possible by sharing the knowledge that they have acquired from years of fishing the Bighorn. Lunch is included and our fully-equipped fly shop also has waders and boots available for those who do not have their own gear with them.
More experienced fly-fishermen who have floated the river before are welcome to rent a drift boat and do a self-guided fishing trip instead.
